CHRIST IS KING - FLAG FOOTBALL

Christ Is King - Flag Football is a six-week faith-based flag football league for Christian families in the West Michigan area. We value family time over practice time, so we offer a unique format where we practice and play on the same day, giving families time to be together during the week and not running to and fro to practices and games multiple times a week.

We provide a 6-week at-home devotional to do as a family to develop Biblical discussions at home as a family. We aim to help kids develop their football skills on the field and their spiritual growth at home.

The kids will receive a jersey and hooded sweatshirt for the 2024 season.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Our aim is to have fun and introduce the kids to the game of football. If they have never played football before, that’s okay. We spend the first 30 minutes of the day going through the basics of football. Your kids will learn things like:

  • How to throw a football

  • How to catch a football

  • How to receive a hand-off

  • How to run routes

  • How to defend against the run and pass

  • Basic rules of football

After the 30 minutes of practice, we play a game for 60 minutes. For ages 6-11, the coaches are the quarterback and will organize the plays with the kids. We play two 25-minute periods with a 5-minute water break in between. We keep score. Each week kids are assigned to their team, so the kids get a chance to play with various teammates to encourage building friendships.

DIVISIONS

  • Boys - 6-8 yrs old - 10am-11:30am

  • Boys - 9-11 yrs old - 10am-11:30am

  • Boys - 12-14 yrs old** - 10am-11:30am

  • Girls - 6-8 yrs old - 10am-11:30am

  • Girls - 9-12 yrs old - 10am-11:30am

  • Girls - 12-14 yrs old - 10am-11:30am

** The [Boys - 12-14 yrs old] group is considered an advanced group, meaning the boys will be playing quarterback. Coaches will call the plays, the boys will be expected to have a playbook memorized, along with passing routes. Boys will be assigned positions based on a skills evaluation.
*** All games will be played at Robinson Township Park in Grand Haven.
